The early bird gets the worm

June 24, 2024. It came in May this year. Big dumps. Then again in June. It’s been good. Real good…

PIRIGALLO BACKDOOR

September 26, 2023. It's amazing how much terrain can be covered with a snowmobile. After we summited the tallest peak in Ñuble, we took the sled across the resort and skied the backcountry of Cerro Pirigallo. Beautiful steep, deep and dry shots on the south faces and soft, buttery, spring cream on the north side. Great last run of the season.

PROBLEMA CABRON

September 12, 2023. Lift accessed resort, sidecountry and backcountry terrain. So many diverse features right off the chair. Most of these clips are from the lower lifts. Don’t have a touring setup? No problem. This place has enough inbounds terrain to keep you coming back for years.

Volcán Chillán Viejo

August 26, 2023. We took the lifts to the top of the resort where we slapped on the skins and toured the rest of the way up Volcán Chillán Viejo. We skied down to Aguas Calientes and toured back to the top of the resort for a final descent just before sunset.

PICO DE NOVIO

August 25, 2023. Lift accessed sidecountry terrain near Pico de Novio, just minutes from the chair. No hiking required. Even when the upper lifts are closed for wind, you can still get this. Pretty, pretty, pretty nice.

Volcán Chillán NUEVO

September 17, 2023. We took the Mirador chair to the furthest reaches of the resort where we slapped on the skins and toured to the top of Volcán Chillán Nuevo. Steep stuff at the top with cool cruising the rest of the way down.

ROLLY MCROLLERSON

August 18, 2023. Lift accessed inbounds resort skiing. Volcanoes, man. Volcanoes. Lava formed bowls, rollers and whales for nearly 3,000 feet. You can lap the Otto lift the entire day and never cross another’s tracks. This place is a natural terrain park.

Volcán

NEVADOS DE Chillán

September 26, 2023. Two days after the mountain closed for the season, we took the sled half way up Volcan Nevados de Chillan, slapped on our skins and toured to the summit. It’s the tallest peak in Nuble. The views are incredible and the energy is intense.

LOS DEDOS

September 12, 2023. Lift accessed backcountry terrain right outside the resort boundaries. This peak and these spines are the first thing you see when you come around the bend on your way to the mountain. One of many iconic zones at Nevados de Chillan.

DROPPINGHAM PALACE

August 18, 2023. Lift accessed backcountry terrain near Pico de Novio. This run is about a 3 minute hike from the top of the resort. Bookended by a large cornice at the top and a sweet drop at the bottom, you’ll have plenty of time to catch your breath cruising the moderately pitched rolling cruiser in between.

PIEDRA ELEFANTE

August 25, 2023. Lift accessed sidecountry terrain near Piedra Elefante, just minutes from the chair. No hiking required. This section slides frequently and ends in a deep terrain trap. All the more reason to go with a Ski The Andes certified guide who grew up skiing these mountains.
